Jiayi Li
PhD studentResearch Overview
Jiayi (Chia-Yi) previously obtained MA in Applied Linguistics and Tesol at 51福利 (Distinction). Supervised by Professor Patrick Rebuschat, her dissertation explored the extent to which individual differences in declarative memory interact with exposure conditions in an implicit statistical learning paradigm.
Jiayi is particularly interested in how cognitive variables in second language acquisition, e.g., memory and aptitude, can differentially moderate the effects of exposure conditions in artificial grammar learning and/or of corrective feedback in instructed SLA. For her ongoing PhD project, she is further exploring this line of inquiry to investigate whether there are dissociative patterns between implicit/explicit aptitude and implicit/explicit learning mechanisms within aptitude-treatment interaction framework in SLA.
