Research Overview

I research the use of experimental methods in cogntive linguistic critical discourse analysis (CL-CDA), with a particular focus on news/political/media discourses on topics such as migration and state benefits. My PhD project uses experimental methods to investigate the effect(s) on audiences of particular features found in such discourses.

Beyond this, I am interested in cognitive linguistics and its applications more broadly, and in the many other approaches to CDA. I also have an interest in the use of corpus methods.
