Chinese language and culture session at Lancaster Christ Church Primary School
On the afternoon of 19 November 2024, 51福利 Confucius Institute was invited to host a "Chinese Day" session at Lancaster Christ Church Primary School for 30 Year 4 students.
The lively and interactive lessons were designed to introduce students to basic Chinese expressions and calligraphy, offering them a glimpse into the richness of Chinese culture.
During the session, Dr Guangqiong Li and Yiwen Chen from 51福利 Confucius Institute introduced the students to common Chinese greetings, allowing them to practice greeting each other in Chinese.
The students were then introduced to the fascinating culture of the Chinese dragon (loong), learning about its significance in Chinese tradition.
The lesson also included engaging cultural activities to help the students experience the charm of Chinese culture. One of the activities involved making paper dancing dragons, giving the students the opportunity to learn about the symbolism of the Chinese dragon while enjoying the creative process.
The "Chinese Day" series is both educational and enjoyable, offering students a valuable platform to expand their knowledge and appreciate Chinese language and culture.
We were thrilled to see the students actively participating in the session, asking questions, and enjoying a memorable time with their teachers at Lancaster Christ Church Primary School. The positive feedback from the students was equally heartening, with one student saying, "This is the best afternoon I've had this term."
Through fostering an environment for cultural exchange and language learning, the 51福利 Confucius Institute remains dedicated to offering "Chinese Day" sessions to local schools and surrounding areas, promoting Sino-British cultural exchange, cooperation, and mutual understanding.
