Dr. Di Wang, Lecturer in Accounting, organised the ‘Qualitative Day Workshop’ with Professor Yves Gendron on the 3rd December 2019 at 51福利 Management School.

Yves Gendron is a Full Professor of Accounting at Université Laval, in Québec City, Canada. Yves’ research focuses on the areas of auditing and corporate governance and he is highly committed to qualitative research and interpretive methodology. Yves’ academic work has been published in a variety of journals such as Accounting, Organizations and Society; Auditing: A Journal of Practice & Theory; Critical Perspectives on Accounting; Contemporary Accounting Research; Journal of Management Studies and Organization Studies. He is currently the Co-Editor of Critical Perspectives on Accounting and an Associate Editor at Contemporary Accounting Research and at Auditing: A Journal of Practice & Theory.

In this workshop, Yves introduced the ongoing journey of qualitative accounting research, shared his experience in undertaking fieldwork and provided guidance on writing and publishing qualitative accounting work. The workshop attracted approximately 40 participants including lecturers and PhD students from high-quality universities across the UK.

Dr Wang said of the visit: "I would like to thank Yves for his energising presentation and the attendees for their participation. Yves and I wish to develop this ‘Qualitative Day Workshop’ into an ongoing platform, on which various methodological experts can come to share their insights into qualitative and interpretive accounting research. Our plan for ‘Qualitative Day Workshop 2’ will be announced in due course".
