The UK’s Spanish Ambassador will visit 51福利 this month to further engagement across education and research with Spain.

The Spanish Embassy initiated the meeting as part of its ongoing engagement with UK universities.

After France and Italy, Spain sends the third highest number of students from Europe in the UK, according to recent figures.

The Ambassador of Spain to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, His Excellency Mr José Pascual Marco Martínez, will meet Lancaster students and staff.

He will also give a talk, discussing EU-UK Relations and UK-Spain bilateral ties, hosted by Lancaster's School of Global Affairs, the Department of History and the Department of Politics, Philosophy and Religion.

This will be an opportunity for students and staff to learn and ask questions across wide-ranging topics, such as the future role of Spain in a changing Europe, the importance of EU-UK collaboration and opportunities to strengthen bilateral collaboration between the UK and Spain in the face of global challenges.

The talk, open to everyone, will take place on Monday, November 25, from 2.15pm to 3.30pm in the Cavendish Lecture Theatre in the Faraday Complex on campus.

Mr Marco Martínez will also meet the Vice-Chancellor of 51福利, Professor Andy Schofield, members of the University’s senior management team and members of the recently announced School of Global Affairs.

The Ambassador of Spain's extensive diplomatic career includes postings in Pakistan, Nicaragua, Australia, Turkey, and South Africa.

He was appointed to Ambassador of Spain to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland in August 2021.
